Internet Marketing and You...the truth by hypothesis.

Ever wonder what SEO really means? How to best identify your presence on the world wide web? Too afraid to ask what it means to be optimized? Well, hopefully I can address some of your questions and trepidations here.

First, We'll tackle SEO or "search engine optimized/ing". That sounds important; ESS-EEE-Oh, and guess what...it is.

Most sites claim to have sufficient structure to satisfy the SEO standards of the leading search monster out there (Google, and we mean monster affectionately) but one quick source code check and guess what...there is nothing that says that the site has been "optimized". Ever check your own site or that of your competition? If curious, open your browser of preference, choose or find the option that states "View Source" and look for "<meta name="description" content="" /> in the source code (if there, it will roughly be around the "title" of the page in the source code). Check the title tags of each page, are they the same or are they unique and Identify the page they represent? Or do they simply state "Home", "About" etc. These are the keys of optimizing. The most important part of the optimizing is the site map that is XML in language. XML is in short "Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a set of rules for encoding documents in machine-readable form." ; which loosely translates to when your site is read by the web search engine crawlers or robots, they have the XML site map as a guide to what is relevant about the pages with in your site. (see Google's Starter guide to SEO here).

But even at that, nobody can claim that you will be relevant and found on the internet. It's the right start and it's the correct tools that your site needs, but it is not the end all of being found.

You still need content, and content is king. You can have all the fancy alt tagged photos on the web, all the meta tags and all the kings men, and still not be found. Why? Well, simply. Content. Your pages must have relevant content to their title tags (remember, "Home", "About" etc) and it should be interesting and relevant but not under whelming.

By far the most important aspect to all of the internet successes is from trending and trending is directly related to what is relevant in the consensus of the world. If you can match your product, interests, and your site to what is "trendy" or trending then you will have great success.

However, turning trending topics into your business model is not always as easy as it may seem. This ability is known as content marketing. If you can make the content of your message relevant to your product and create interest with your content then that coupled with all the aforementioned tools will equate to success.

Remember, no one and no thing can guarantee you first page results and please know that no money needs to be spent in order to organically rank higher on the search engines. That I can promise. That is why Odd Ball Web charges absolutely nothing for the SEO on all of it's sites created.
